Harn SOLO performing the song “Louis Armstrong” in the Garden District and French Quarter of New Orleans. The Focus Cinema TV directed film is the third single from Harn SOLO’s album, “Perfect Picture” released this fall. Paying tribute to his current city on “Louis Armstrong”, it’s obvious the Crescent Kingz produced song mirrors the unique spirit of a legendary music town. From the symbolism of the umbrella and second line style dancing, to the traditional New Orleans voodoo face paint and Mardi Gras beads. New York City trend setting culture magazine IX Daily says, “SOLO is an artist who is ready to grab music by the reins and steer it in his winning direction. He is setting his place with a sound that is uniquely his by giving hip-hop the classic New Orleans twist.”

Malmo Sweden’s THIS IS HEAD releases “Repetition” EP featuring a video for “Repetition Radio” one of the 3 new versions of the song “Repetition”, which highlights the bands take on krautrock/electronic grooves within their progressive indie pop songs. With a handful of EP’s released in the US in 2013, including remixes from PRINCE RAMA, KORALLREVEN, EL PERRO DEL MAR and others, THIS IS HEAD played and a handful of choice shows in Toronto and NYC in late March 2013, and will be back in early Feb 2014. The full album, The ALbum ID will be released in North America in Feb 4 2014.

“This is Head make expansive, widescreen pop that doesn’t rely on “whoah-ohs” to convey emotion. There’s an expressive use of dynamics on the band’s new longplayer, The Album ID.” Brooklyn Vegan

” The video to their second single off the album, “Illumination!” It’s a comically-creepy look at the supernatural with music that is so infectious it’s enough to put you in a trance itself.” FILTER

“The moment just feels right for epic psych pop, doesn’t it? At least that’s what we thought when we saw the video for This Is Head’s delightfully aqueous “Time’s an Ocean.” That’s why we’re sharing it with you now. We want you to feel like you are floating gently in the ocean of time just like we do.” MTVIGGY

It has that kind of vibe, we then confirmed Ruste & Afu to get on there and you have a potential NYC classic joint!” Regarding Endemic, Tragedy says “Endemic is more than a beat maker or producer; he actually understands how to marry an MC to his sound, that’s more than hip hop – that profound!” Terminal Illness 2 drops November 26 on No Cure Records.

Chambersburg, PA’s, THE SHACKELTONS release their first single “Call-Call” Sept 30th off of their upcoming album Records on Think Loud entertainment. Phily’s WXPN premeired the track online and on-air today. The band has been gearing up for the new album release in early 2014 with a handful of their legendary live shows lead by the preacher-like lead vocalist Mark Redding. With a foundation of a crack rhythm section, dueling guitars, the occasional blast of horns, and Redding’s manic tales of love for lost family, personal disappointments, and yet seeing hope in humanity, THE SHACKELTONS experience is reminiscent of a Sunday service. Their mash-up of psychedelic garage-rock and alternative rock roots brings flavors of THEE OH SEES, THE FLESHTONES, THE FALL, and THE PIXIES.

The band has already left an impressive mark with their debut self titled album on Loveless Records (2008) with major press from ROLLING STONE, SPIN, WASHINGTON POST, NPR, NEW YORK TIMES and more all heralding the band. The new album, Records’ more focused, bold and realized sound is destined to have similar effects to press and fans alike.

BANKS – “This is What it Feels Like” (Official Video)

Understatement is a greatly underutilized tool and BANKS knows its power. Noisey’s first taste of BANKS’ minimalist mastery came at the top of this year with “Before I Ever Met You.” Raw, sultry, and seductively delivered, it marked LA-born BANKS out as an intriguing talent. Cut to six months later and we’re super excited to be premiering her new video—in partnership with Garnier Fructis—for “This is What it Feels Like,” a phenomenal, duskily atmospheric tune lifted from her current EP, London, it’s also the first BANKS video shot in color.

Making Music with the Brooklyn Bridge | The Human Harp

Individuals find innovative ways to create art with their bodies and the surrounding landscape.

Artist Di Mainstone has plans to transform New York’s Brooklyn Bridge with the Human Harp, an instrumental sculpture that allows pedestrians to physically ‘play’ the bridge.

The body-centric Harp is a collaborative project supported by Queen Mary University of London, which Mainstone hopes to realize at the Brooklyn Bridge’s reopening in 2014. Human Harp connects the human body to the instrument-like architecture of existing structures and enables pedestrians and dancers to interact in the translation of journey into musical composition.
