The popular Portland group formerly known as Starfucker went back to the studio to add some fresh touches to their 2009 mini-LP, Jupiter. The result is a complete re-imagining of the original — as all eight songs received brand new mixes, three more tracks were added, and the entire record was re-mastered. Jupiter is essential for any listener wanting to create (or re-live) the STRFKR dance party experience.

This full-length album will be available on CD for first time and hits stores on 11/19/13. Jupiter features the songs “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” “Biggie Smalls” and a remix of “Rawnald Gregory Erickson the Second” – the original version was featured in ad spots for Target and helped break the band.

STRFR is currently on a 30+ date U.S. tour with most of the shows already sold out. Jupiter is also available on 180 gram vinyl.

“This spazzy quartet’s second album belies their unfit-to-fully-print name: It’s an amiable, compact collection of synth-pop fizz that lands between Gary Numan’s “Cars” and the Cars on the neo-new-wave spectrum. Starfucker’s party trick is a thriller.” – Spin

Willis Earl Beal – Too Dry To Cry

Willis Earl Beal, who has one of the most interesting backstories in music, released a new one named “Too Dry To Cry.” What starts with a twangy guitar riff is quickly joined by powerful stomps and claps; by the time Beal’s firey vocals enter the picture it’s clear this isn’t like anything else you’ve heard from the Chicago native to date. With his sophomore LP, Nobody knows., scheduled to release September 10th it seems Beal really is coming into his own. Take a look at the album’s tracklist below and listen to the first single off of the project, “Everything Unwinds.”

“Forbidden Fruit,” J.Cole featuring Kendrick Lamar Born Sinner LP

A lot of discussion was created when Kendrick’s name appeared on the album’s tracklist, being that Cole stated that he wouldn’t have any rap features included on his sophomore album, and holding true to his word, Lamar provides vocal work on the song’s chorus. Check out the track down below and be sure to place your pre-orders for Born Sinner now by clicking here.

Stereo Crew & Soul Daad release their free LP AMSTERTROIT. As the title hints, this album is a result of Detroit and Amsterdam collaborating. Stereo Boyz & Stereo Crew teamed up with Amsterdam’s Soul Daad recently to produce and record “Amstertroit”. The two teams of MCs and Producers first met on Twitter, exchanging beats and ideas. The Stereo Boyz picked 3 beats by Soul Daad members Gianski & Bolle for their upcoming album “Carz, Clubz & Theaterz”. During their recent Europe tour, the Stereo Boyz met the Soul Daad crew in person for the first time, and after a whole week in their Amsterdam headquarters, AMSTERTROIT was born. The LP consists of production and vocals from both crews. Mixo says: “We wanted to show a unity with this project, a unity in Hip Hop that, it seems, has been forgotten. This is positivity. This shows you that Hip Hop brings people together, and no language barriers or far distance can stop it.” AMSTERTROIT is now available for free download. Look out for the video to “Ooh La La”, dropping soon.

Blu featuring Arima Ederra – Summertime (Produced by Bombay)

Blu’s latest track is dedicated to the season we’re so close to approaching. “Summertime” features emcee Arima Ederra over the warm production of Bombay. This single is presumably off of Blu’s collaborative effort with Bombay titled Good To B Home. No release date has been given to the project as of yet. For now, we’ll have to be content with this latest offering from the LP “Dre Day” and “Rap Dope.”

J.Cole Born Sinner – Web Series ep 2-3

J. Cole – Born Sinner (Web Series – Ep. 2 with Kendrick Lamar)

J. Cole kicked off his Born Sinner web series last week with his mom documenting the day Cole was able to get her to retire. Click here to watch episode 2, which features Kendrick Lamar deeply reflecting on music. He explains why it’s a sin for him and Cole not to rap, recollects a question Erykah Badu asked him, and talks about the change that happened when his album dropped. All the while, the background subtly follows Lamar’s thoughts. Cole’s sophomore LP, Born Sinner, drops June 25.

Born Sinner (Web Series – Ep.3)

His mom and fellow emcee Kendrick Lamar have both taken part in J. Cole’s “Born Sinner” web series. For the latest installment, Dreamville co-founder Ibrahim “IB” Hamad speaks on the birth and evolution of ideas. “There’s a great idea in every idea you get. It might not be there yet, but it could be the beginning of something great.” He goes on to articulate the ideas behind the origin of Dreamville and Born Sinner’s move to June 18.
