BANKS – “This is What it Feels Like” (Official Video)

Understatement is a greatly underutilized tool and BANKS knows its power. Noisey’s first taste of BANKS’ minimalist mastery came at the top of this year with “Before I Ever Met You.” Raw, sultry, and seductively delivered, it marked LA-born BANKS out as an intriguing talent. Cut to six months later and we’re super excited to be premiering her new video—in partnership with Garnier Fructis—for “This is What it Feels Like,” a phenomenal, duskily atmospheric tune lifted from her current EP, London, it’s also the first BANKS video shot in color.

Memento Mori by Jacob Harmer in Collaboration with Duffy Jewellery

In collaboration with Duffy Jewellery, Memento Mori is a short produced by the innovative video content creators from London — Knock Knock. Featuring beautiful bespoke pieces by the skillful jewelry craftsman Duffy, this piece stars some odd wild sunflower babies and creepy crawlies. As director Jacob Harmer explains “The concept was to explore things not always being as they seem, a darkness behind a beautiful facade. We wanted the audience to experience being beneath the earth and exposed to this visceral fear. This is then replaced with wonder at the creatures that have an almost alien presence, but actually share the planet with us. We wanted the discovery of the beauty within these creatures to mirror the treasures they guard.” Born of a fascination with things not always being as they seem. ‘Memento Mori’ is the latin translation of ‘Remember you will die,’ and explores the darkness and fear that often lies beneath a beautiful facade.

London Grammar – Strong

Strong is a crisp and delicate ballad that will send shivers down your spine. Overwhelmingly melodic, Strong’s stunning piano and guitar lines are crushingly soft, shimmering from the track with a blissful minimalism that matches and potentially excels the bands earlier slow singles Hey Now and Interlude. Full of power and emotion, Hannah Reid’s sublime vocals lift the tracks aura way beyond almost all other music that I love and enjoy.

Solange Knowles featuring Kendrick Lamar – Looks Good with Trouble

The Compton rapper has just joined forces with the lovely Solange Knowles for her new single “Looks Good with Trouble.” An original version of the song was featured on her True EP, but the songstress now adds a more timid vibe to this new take while Kendrick serves listeners with some food for thought.  This song is full of chilled synths which have been greatly tweaked and expanded to create a slightly eery but soothing sound. K-Dot fits in perfectly, providing a flowing account of heartache in London as well as his listening to of Huddersfield’s finest, James Mason.
