Swiss artist and photographer Fabian Oefner is on a mission to make eye-catching art from everyday science. In this charming talk, he shows off some recent psychedelic images, including photographs of crystals as they interact with soundwaves. And, in a live demo, he shows what really happens when you mix paint with magnetic liquid–or when you set fire to whiskey.
Apart from the outstanding artist name, the German musician’s new single Odyssey is quite frankly stunning. The songs track description states that this song is “inspired by a dream I had where I died in a plane crash. “Odyssey” comes from the travels of Ulysses – his fear of never coming back home & never reaching his ambitions. It’s a track about deception and the fear of death, the fear of never accomplishing your goals.” The deep description gives the song a real emotional depth and enhances the musicality and lyrics tenfold. The song even pans out like a dream, encountering the unexpected, terror and unpredictability that dreams bring in breathtakingly beautiful music.
Washed Out – Don’t Give Up
“Don’t Give Up” is the new visual/single from Washed Out’s forthcoming sophomore album Paracosm. The lush, cool-out offering, was visually interpreted by Kate Moross who got on her mother earth mindset, utilizing high-res shots of wild animals and nature with a pulsating zooms that pull off a psychedelic effect. You’ll have to watch above and see what we mean, meanwhile, Paracosm is on course to release on August 13 via Sub Pop.
Strong is a crisp and delicate ballad that will send shivers down your spine. Overwhelmingly melodic, Strong’s stunning piano and guitar lines are crushingly soft, shimmering from the track with a blissful minimalism that matches and potentially excels the bands earlier slow singles Hey Now and Interlude. Full of power and emotion, Hannah Reid’s sublime vocals lift the tracks aura way beyond almost all other music that I love and enjoy.
Sculpted by Philippe Pasqua, the life sized model Tyrannosaurus Rex currently standing over the Seine river in Paris is built of 350 chrome molded bones and was created to promote contemporary art along the river. A replica of dinosaur remains discovered in China, Pasqua’s reconstruction is perfected right down to its long tail and teeth, making this sculpture a showcase of his artistic ingenuity as well as of its shock value.
